Firefox 'should not be bundled with Windows' PDF Print E-mail

The Firefox browser should not be installed with Windows on new PCs as there is no evidence that Microsoft's practice of bundling Internet Explorer with its operating system is anticompetitive.

This is according to Firefox architect Mike Connor, who told PC Pro that he personally would not be in favour of such a move and that he thought Opera's claims over Microsoft's allegedly unfair monopoly of the browser market were "provably false".

The Yahoo! Sports website has seen significant success as a result of its online strategy regarding video streaming, according to general manager Jimmy Pitaro.

Speaking to eMarketer, he explained that Yahoo! Sports's main aim from the start was to turn the website into an online sports destination for fans and began by building up a strong editorial team to provide unique content.

Recession web searches on the rise PDF Print E-mail

Searches for terms related to the recession have risen significantly in the UK in the last 12 months, according to Hitwise.

Robin Goad, research director at the company, noted in a blog post that queries for 'recession' tend to spike every three months when the latest quarterly data on the UK's GDP is released.

A growing number of Europeans are now accessing social networking websites from their mobile phones.

This is according to new figures released by comScore, which show that 12.1 million people in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain used mobile social networks in November – representing a 152 per cent increase year-on-year.

Cybercrime is becoming an increasing threat to web users and businesses, experts at the World Economic Forum have warned.

A panel consisting of professionals from companies such as Microsoft, Mozilla, McAfee, Garlik and Kudelski noted that a growing proportion of instances of cybercrime can now be attributed to large-scale gangs rather than lone individuals.
