Here’s an argument you may be wrestling with:  mobile phones are becoming more capable all the time. Some high end phones can handle existing sites like bbc.co.uk without a problem. So why is a mobile-friendly site necessary?

Well, we believe that you should not be ignoring the 2.5 billion other normal phones in use around the world, that phones will never be as good as a PC, that you don’t work in the same way on a phone as you do on a PC and let us not forget the expense of downloading graphics onto a phone.

We’re not criticizing the mobile net phenomenon – we just want to make it work for us and our clients.  We don’t believe in technology for technology’s sake, but we are always ready to experiment and work with new technologies and then cherry-pick the best.

Our work so far has shown us that if you really want your site to be easily and effectively accessible from a mobile, it needs to be designed for a mobile, and not simply squeezed into a smaller space.

Nileage can experience what we mean, we’re offering a free static ten page WAP site* build for all new customers so that they can experience the mobile net and choose long term whether to invest in a mobile offering.
